Window and Door Rebates in Ontario
Ontario homeowners can sometimes lower the cost of replacing windows and doors through energy-efficiency rebate programs. Which program applies depends on the products you install, the other upgrades you make at the same time, and where you live. Comfort installs ENERGY STAR-certified windows and doors and handles the rebate paperwork for you. Call 416-800-1365 for a free quote and we’ll tell you what you can claim today.
What’s available now
As of 2026, the main provincial program is the Home Renovation Savings Program, delivered by Enbridge Gas and Save on Energy with support from the Ontario government. Under it, ENERGY STAR-certified windows and exterior doors earn $100 per rough opening.
There is an important condition. Windows and doors fall in the program’s “home energy assessment required” category. To claim, you start with a home energy assessment and complete at least two qualifying upgrades together as one project — for example, windows along with insulation or air sealing. Replacing only windows, or only doors, on its own does not qualify under the current program.
You also need to be an Enbridge Gas customer who heats mainly with natural gas, or be on the Ontario electricity grid and heat with electricity, propane, oil, or wood.
For current amounts, conditions, and deadlines, see the official program page at homerenovationsavings.ca.
When the rebate is worth it
Because windows and doors have to be bundled with another upgrade and an assessment, the rebate is most useful when you’re planning a larger project — new windows together with insulation, air sealing, or a heat pump, say. If you’re replacing windows alone, there may be nothing to claim right now, and we’ll tell you that honestly rather than promise a rebate you can’t get.
How the rebates work
Most window and door rebates share the same basic rules. The products have to be ENERGY STAR certified for your climate zone, the work has to be done by a qualified installer, and you claim after the job is finished. Comfort installs only ENERGY STAR-certified products and prepares the documentation you need, so you’re not chasing paperwork on your own.
Programs that have closed
If you’re searching for an older program, several have ended. The Canada Greener Homes Grant closed to new applicants in 2024, and its final document deadline was December 31, 2025. The Canada Greener Homes Loan stopped accepting applications on October 1, 2025. The Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) is no longer open. If you were counting on one of these, contact us and we’ll point you to what is available now.
Other programs that may apply
Depending on your situation, two others may help. The Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program is aimed at lower-income households; check its current status before relying on it. The City of Toronto’s Home Energy Loan Program offers low-interest financing for Toronto homeowners.
Common questions
Are there rebates for replacing my windows in Vaughan or the GTA?
Yes, with conditions. Ontario’s Home Renovation Savings Program pays $100 per opening on ENERGY STAR windows and doors, but only as part of a project that includes a home energy assessment and at least two upgrades. Call 416-800-1365 and we’ll tell you whether your project qualifies.
Can I get a rebate for windows alone?
Not on its own right now. The current program requires bundling windows or doors with at least one other qualifying upgrade, starting with a home energy assessment. If you’re doing a larger renovation, the rebate can apply.
Do I have to deal with the paperwork?
No. We install qualifying products and prepare the rebate documentation for you.
Which products qualify?
ENERGY STAR-certified windows and exterior entry or replacement doors. Some products, including garage doors and storm doors, are not covered. We confirm eligibility for your specific project.
